Principal Product Designer, London, Hybrid at Autogenai

Join AutogenAI – Revolutionising Bid and Proposal Writing

At AutogenAI, we're changing how teams win work, not just how they write documents. Our platform is moving from AI that suggests to AI that acts: agents that research, draft and assemble proposals on a user's behalf, while the people who own the bid stay firmly in control.

We're looking for a Principal Product Designer to shape that shift. You'll define how bid and proposal teams delegate to, supervise and trust AI, own the experience of key areas of our platform, and help raise the bar for design across the team.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role: you'll do the work yourself, and your influence will reach well beyond your own features.

You'll report to Chief Product Officer and join a design team of 4, working closely with Product, Engineering and Customer teams.

This is a hybrid role (two days per week in our London office),

What You’ll Do

• Shape product direction. Partner with Product and Engineering leads to frame the biggest user and business problems, influence the roadmap, and turn ambiguity into clear design strategy.
• Design how people work with agents. Move beyond "AI proposes, human accepts" to a calibrated range of autonomy, with clear moments for review, override and audit built in from the start.
• Make trust visible. Extend our trust patterns (source verification, calibrated confidence, visible progress) so every claim can be checked and every autonomous step traced back to what it did and why.
• Treat context as design material. Work with Engineering on what the system knows when it acts (instructions, memory, retrieved evidence, tool access) as part of the experience, alongside layout and flow.
• Own complex journeys end to end. Take multi-step, multi-user workflows from discovery to polished, production-ready UI, making the hard trade-offs and bringing stakeholders with you.
• Lead the design system's evolution. Keep agentic and AI-assisted patterns feeling like one coherent, accessible and refined product as we grow.
• Stay close to users. Lead research with customers and internal bid teams working under deadline and compliance pressure. Learn where they welcome AI autonomy and where they need control, and connect design decisions to measurable outcomes.
• Ship with care. Work with engineers on edge cases, failure states and QA so what we ship matches the design intent and stands up to enterprise and regulatory scrutiny.
• Help designers grow. Mentor, lead critiques, and shape how design is practised and valued at AutogenAI.

What You’ll Bring

• Significant experience at Principal or strong Senior+ level designing B2B enterprise SaaS, with a track record of influencing direction beyond your own features.
• A portfolio showing clear problem framing, strategic thinking and high-quality UI for complex workflows: intricate processes, multiple user types or high-stakes decisions.
• Hands-on experience designing AI-powered products, ideally agentic ones. You know the difference between a system that suggests and one that acts, and what that shift asks of an interface.
• An understanding that trust and explainability live in system state and interaction sequencing, not only in microcopy or visual treatment.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA) and inclusive design.
• The ability to lead through influence: clear communication, sound judgement on trade-offs, and confidence presenting to and challenging senior stakeholders.
• Comfort in a fast-moving environment, turning complex, AI-mediated work into simple, usable experiences.
• Expert use of Figma and modern prototyping practices, including AI-assisted design tools.
• Experience building or scaling a design system in a growing product organisation.

Nice to Have

• Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy domains, such as public sector, healthcare or financial services.
• Familiarity with emerging agentic UX patterns and toolkits, such as AI SDK Elements.
• Experience with document editors, text-heavy tools or collaboration software.
• A background in bid or proposal workflows.

Why Join Us

• Shape a category-defining product at the moment it moves from AI-assisted writing to autonomous, accountable proposal work.
• Work alongside a high-calibre, mission-driven team across Product, Engineering, Design, Sales and Customer Success.
• Real autonomy and ownership, and a genuine say in how design (and how AI acts on a user's behalf) is done here.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Competitive Salary: c.£100,000 - £120,000 depending on experience.
• Stock Options: Meaningful equity in the company.
• Retirement Plan: Pension scheme to help secure your future.
• Paid Time Off: Unlimited vacation (Yes, you read right!)
• Flexible Work Options: This is a hybrid role (two days per week in our London office),
• Private Healthcare: Bupa Medical and Dental cover
• Life Insurance: Peace of mind for you and your family
• Paid parental leave: 16 weeks if you’ve just given birth, 4 weeks if your partner has just given birth (after one year of service)

Values in Action:

These aren’t just principles we print and forget – they’re how we work, how we treat each other, and how we deliver for our customers. They shape the company we are, and the one we aspire to become.

• Customers, Always : Everything starts with our customers. We walk in their shoes, speak their language, and build for their delight and success. We win when they win.
• Make It Happen : We move fast and take ownership. No waiting, no red tape – just action, urgency, and focus on outcomes. We ask for forgiveness, not permission.
• Learn and Invent : We stay curious. We learn what we can from past masters - and make up the rest. Change is constant, and so is our growth.
• Act Like Owners : Titles don’t solve problems - people do. We own challenges, break the rules when it’s necessary, and focus on what matters.
• Turn It Up to 11 : There is no “Good enough”. We raise the bar, push boundaries, and keep building. There’s always a next level.
• Lead With Respect : We listen first, speak honestly, and value every perspective. Integrity, follow-through, and kindness matter.
• Build Trust Through Transparency : We default to openness. We give feedback, share information, and assume positive intent - no secrets, no silos.
