The Role
We are looking for a commercially driven Performance Marketing Manager to manage and improve customer acquisition across the UK and Germany.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, you will be responsible for the management of the performance marketing agency and overall delivery of our paid acquisition strategy. You will manage our agency partners, monitor channel performance and use customer and commercial data to recommend where we should invest, test and optimise. This role combines performance marketing expertise with strong commercial judgement. You will work closely with Marketing, Content, Data, Product, Finance and Commercial colleagues to improve the efficiency, quality and predictability of customer acquisition.
You will be comfortable moving between strategic planning and detailed performance analysis, challenging agency recommendations and turning data into clear actions.
Tasks
What You'll Do
- Acquisition Planning
- Develop and deliver Bike Club's customer acquisition plans across the UK and Germany in collaboration with the Marketing Director.
- Translate business objectives into channel plans, campaign targets and testing priorities.
- Recommend how acquisition budgets should be allocated across markets, channels and campaigns.
- Identify new opportunities to grow customer acquisition and market penetration.
- Develop a clear test-and-learn roadmap across channels, audiences, propositions, creative, and landing pages.
- Continuously assess the effectiveness and scalability of acquisition channels**.**
- Performance Marketing
- Manage our performance marketing agency and other acquisition partners ensuring they deliver against agreed objectives.
- Oversee the day-to-day performance and optimisation of paid acquisition activity across relevant channels.
- Lead the restructure of paid search around parent needs and intent (sizing, outgrown bikes, exchange) rather than subscription terms.
- Review campaign plans, media spend, targeting, creative and results, constructively challenging agency recommendations where appropriate.
- Track customer acquisition cost, conversion, return on advertising spend and other key measures of performance.
- Focus acquisition activity on acquiring high-quality, sustainable customers rather than simply driving volume.
- Work closely with the content team to develop strong campaign propositions, briefs and creative testing plans.
- Identify opportunities to improve landing pages and customer journeys.
- Ensure learning from campaigns and tests is documented and applied to future activity.
- Commercial Performance & Data
- Own day-to-day reporting on acquisition KPIs, including CAC, conversion, ROAS, payback and customer value.
- Partner closely with Finance and Data to understand acquisition economics and profitability.
- Analyse performance by channel, audience, campaign, proposition and market.
- Develop robust forecasting and scenario planning for acquisition performance for the Marketing Director and wider business
- Ensure performance data is accurate, accessible and used consistently in decision-making.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to both marketing specialists and wider business stakeholders.
Requirements
About You
You'll be an experienced performance marketer who combines channel knowledge with strong commercial and analytical judgement.
You'll bring:
- Relevant experience in performance marketing, customer acquisition or growth marketing within a consumer-focused business or agency.
- A strong understanding of paid acquisition channels and how they work together within the customer journey.
- Experience managing performance marketing agencies or external partners.
- A track record of improving acquisition performance while maintaining commercial discipline.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to translate data into practical recommendations.
- Experience developing and evaluating campaign tests across audiences, creative, propositions or channels.
- Experience managing a multi-channel, multi-market budget of £1m+, including making investment recommendations
- A test-and-learn mindset and genuine curiosity about what drives customer behaviour.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working across multiple markets, ideally including Germany is desirable.
