About the Role

This is a founding senior attorney role at an AI-native law firm operating in Germany, built around an agentic platform designed to automate recurring legal work. You will serve as a key market-facing figure, bringing an established portable book of business and helping shape the firm's early growth trajectory. The role sits at the intersection of legal practice and legal technology, with meaningful equity upside.

What You'll Do

• Bring your portable client book onto a proprietary AI agent platform and continue serving your existing clients.

• Act as the market-facing credibility driver, generating top-of-funnel opportunities through your PE/VC and mid-market network.

• Cross-sell commercial and compliance services into your existing client base.

• Collaborate with the founding team to migrate recurring matters onto the AI platform for automation.

• Help drive firm growth toward a Series A/B funding milestone.

What We're Looking For

• 12 or more years of experience as a partner-level attorney at a recognised, top-ranked German law firm, with a track record of building and managing a portable client book of €1M or more.

• German-qualified Volljurist with active bar admission as Rechtsanwalt.

• Strong network in private equity, venture capital, and mid-market companies, with demonstrated cross-sell potential across commercial and compliance work.

• Client book weighted toward PE/VC clients and their portfolio companies, including recurring and automatable work such as commercial contracts, IT and data, corporate/VC advisory, or regulatory matters (not litigation-only).

• Diversified client base across multiple sectors and company sizes, not dependent on a small number of large institutions.

• Feasible transition path: notice period and client migration achievable within approximately six months, with no restrictive non-competes blocking book portability.

• Native-level German for client work; professional English fluency.

• Hands-on experience using AI tools such as large language model assistants or legal AI platforms in daily practice.

• Dr. iur. or LL.M. qualification preferred.

• Germany-based and work-authorised; no visa sponsorship available.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation of €200,000 to €300,000 annually, plus meaningful equity in a technology-oriented legal business. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

The role is based in Berlin, Germany with a hybrid work arrangement. Berlin in-person presence is preferred.
